Privacy policy
What UPitch collects, what leaves your iPhone, and what stays on your device. Effective May 2026.
Summary
UPitch records short audio when you choose to practice. After you finish a take, audio is sent for transcription and AI coaching. Practice history, scores, streaks, and optional media replays are stored on your iPhone and may sync to your account when signed in. We do not sell your recordings.
Audio you record
Microphone access is used only when you start a practice take. Pitch mode is capped at about 30 seconds; Presentation mode can be longer. Audio is not uploaded while you are recording—only after you submit a take for coaching (or discard it).
Camera (Presentation mode)
If you allow camera access, UPitch shows a live front-camera preview and may save a presentation video replay on your device. Video is not uploaded for coaching in the current version—only extracted audio is sent for transcription and analysis. If we change what leaves your device, we will update this policy and the in-app Data & AI screen before turning on new uploads.
What we send to OpenAI
To generate a transcript and coaching, short audio is sent to OpenAI’s API for speech-to-text and structured analysis. We also send transcript text and basic speech metrics (for example word count, estimated pace, and filler-word estimates). Optional post-record check-in ratings (1–5) may be included as subjective context for coaching tone. OpenAI processes this data under their API terms, privacy policy, and retention practices. We do not use your audio or transcript to train UPitch-owned models.
AI training and your consent
We do not use your voice, video, or transcript to train our own models. We have not enrolled you in any optional “training” or research program. If we ever wanted to use recordings for model training or similar purposes, we would ask for separate, explicit in-app consent first—and you could decline without losing basic practice features.
Your account
When you sign in, practice history can be tied to your account. Coaching summaries, transcripts, and feedback may be stored in UPitch’s database. Audio and presentation video may be stored in private object storage (for example Cloudflare R2). Data is protected in transit (HTTPS) and by standard cloud provider encryption at rest.
Stored on your device
Until upload completes, coached reps may be staged locally (scores, transcripts, optional replays). After sync, media may be removed from the device while summaries remain for browsing. Profile name, photo, and onboarding state remain on device until you change them.
Sharing
Sharing is always your choice through the iOS share sheet. The default share card includes your score and a short headline—not your full transcript—unless you change what you share.
Your choices
You can decline microphone or camera permission (with reduced features), stop recording at any time, skip the optional check-in, manage OpenAI-related consent under Data & AI in the app, delete all practice data, delete your account from the app (when signed in), remove your profile photo, or replay onboarding from Settings.
Children
UPitch is not directed at children under 13. Do not use the app if you are not old enough to consent to recording and processing where you live.
Changes & contact
We may update this policy as the product changes; material changes will be reflected in-app and on this page. Privacy or data questions: support@upitch.io
